The Minnesota MySQL User Group (MMUG) was founded in October 2004 for local users of the leading open source database to meet and share MySQL ideas, questions, and expertise. We provide news and demos regarding MySQL, and we explore how MySQL benefits Open Source Software, Web Development, and Business growth.
In 2008 we have expanded to cover other FLOSS (Free, Libre, and Open Source Software)?aka FOSS / OSS? topics including PHP in our new Open Source Open Mike meeting format.
MMUG is sponsored by MySQL AB as part of its Community efforts and is a member of the O'Reilly Media User Group Program and the Apress User Group Program. The group is an all-volunteer effort that receives no direct funding. MySQL AB subsidizes Meetup.com fees. O'Reilly Media and Apress provide free review copies of books related to MySQL. The Center for Strategic Information Technology and Security provides meeting space at Metro State University.
MMUG holds monthly meetings that are open to the public, typically on the 2nd Monday of the month, although the schedule may vary. A typical agenda includes MySQL and Open Source news, technology demos, presentations on companies or projects using Open Source software, book reviews, and discussions of industry trends.
Recruiters: You may post a message regarding MySQL-related job openings in the Minnesota market for a one-month period. Please refrain from general advertisements, and do not solicit members with messages or shouts. Inappropriate behavior in this meetup may be cause for removal at the discretion of the organizer.
