I apologize for not having organized a meeting yet. I am looking for a good place to meet and would prefer not to use a restaurant or bar. If any of you have corporate facilities where we could hold our first MySQL Meetup, I would love to coordinate with you.
I have some very useful information here from the MySQL User Conference that was held in Santa Clara, CA this past April. We had more than 1600 attendees, 66 exhibitors, and 140+ sessions and workshops for every type of user - from experienced database administrators and programmers to MySQL beginners. The User Conference capped off a very exciting 12 months for MySQL ?
MySQL completed its best financial quarter and year in its 12-year history, due in part to its newly-launched Telecom business unit, growing indirect sales channels, and 100 percent year-over-year growth in sales.

The MySQL Certified Storage Engine Program is a success. Since this partner program was rolled out at the 2006 user conference, a number of vendors and community developers have announced and delivered customized storage engines that can be plugged into the MySQL Server to help users optimize their database applications for specific use cases. The conference included technical sessions and the release of a new downloadable alpha version of MySQL?s own ?Falcon? transactional storage engine.
