rollover/rollback, etc.
select DATE_ADD(DATE_sub(date_sub('2009-7-08',INTERVAL 1 MONTH),INTERVAL
DAYOFMONTH('2009-7-08') DAY),INTERVAL 15 DAY)
This will return the 15t

Try this:
SELECT ADDDATE(dateColumnName, INTERVAL -1 MONTH);
This should give you the same date one month earlier.
